Construction
Well, sort of. David’s been wanting to get some sort of cover for the tractor to keep it somewhat protected from rain and the sun. We looked into sheds, but it would have been expensive to get one big enough for the tractor and we wouldn’t have much use for it once the house is done (we hope to have a decent size attached garage and possibly a detached garage in the future). We also looked into metal carports, but finally came across this tent at Costco. Their price was significantly cheaper than anyone else for the exact same one and this one came with the side panels. It’s 10’x20′ and 9′ tall in the middle, so it’s large enough for the tractor and all it’s accessories. It’s by no means completely water tight, but it will provide some protection from the elements.
David and my dad started putting it together on Wednesday and we went back out there today so David could finish tying it down. Since we can’t be nearby to check on it during storms, we wanted to make sure it is as secure as possible. David reinforced all the frame joints with duct tape, added zip ties so the tent is more securely attached to the frame and added 15″ anchors to the corners.
He put it at the back NW corner of the property which is one of the lowest points and farthest from the road. We’re hoping that will also protect it from the wind and keep it somewhat out of sight from the road.
